Brother Lance Kramer and his wife Corina have a VISION for their Native Inupiaq (Eskimo)people and the children here in the Arctic village of Kotzebue. Inspired by the Word of God, Brother Lance wants to build a wonderful CHRISTIAN SUMMER CAMP to train the youth of Kotzebue and local villages in the mighty Word of God. Such a camp is desperately needed here as a gathering place where Christian teachers and workers can minister to these precious young people, and help them grow in Christ Jesus.

You must understand. Kotzebue is one of many Inupiaq Native villages here in the Arctic North of Alaska. Life in the villages here has always been challenging, with the long Arctic winters and the people traditionally living off what the land and sea provides for them. Imagine the challenges, as temperatures dip to lows such as minus 65 F below zero, with a chill Arctic wind accompanying this.

Imagine the hardships of trying to survive when some homes in some villages do not even have running water or modern toilets (instead, some use "honeybuckets"), and must cut chunks of ice out of the river and stack them up outdoors to melt whenever water is needed. May compassion rise in our hearts as we begin to comprehend what others must often endure and overcome bravely in their challenging lives.

Recently in one village, according to the Anchorage Daily News,  their power source for heating went out, and the people were forced to do desperate things, like burn their fish-drying wooden boards just for fuel to survive the bitter cold. These fish-drying boards are essential for them to dry their salmon they catch each summer, so they can store them up for food during the year. Without their drying boards, such activity is impossible.

The precious Inupiaq youth of such villages face many challenges in the 21st century. How important it is to give them a firm foundation in Jesus Christ and the eternal Word of God, so they can face the challenges successfully and avoid the common traps youth face of drugs and many other temptations out there.

Brother Lance and Corina have a VISION from the Holy Spirit, to BUILD A CHRISTIAN CAMP right here, near Kotzebue, in the wildly beautiful and challenging Alaskan Arctic. They already know the land they have selected, and are even now negotiating with local carpenters about the cost of building the necessary cabins to house the youth throughout their two month summer program they envision. Summers are very short here, and they intend to use every single day to evangelize the youth and their people for Jesus Christ.

BUT THE NEEDS ARE GREAT AND MANY! Some of the children and youth must be BOATED IN from the neighboring villages, throughout this coastal region. Others must even be picked up and flown in BY PLANE. ( Remember: this IS the ALASKAN BUSH!) Gas costs are high here, and the motors for their boats require GAS

FOOD IS IMPORTANT: they must FEED the youth not only SPIRITUAL FOOD but also PHYSICAL FOOD as well. You can SEND FOOD FOR THE SUMMER directly to Lance! At the bottom of this  article I will list the foods they so desperately need to store up for the summer. You can make this your church project also.

BIBLES are needed! TEEN NIV STUDY BIBLES are requested as DONATIONS to this ministry!

CABINS to house the children and workers are also needed. Supplies for building and SKILLED and EXPERIENCED volunteer workers from YOUR church are welcome!

ALL of this effort for a CHRISTIAN SUMMER YOUTH CAMP IN ALASKA
takes compassionate financial aid and donations of every kind
from the Body of Christ to MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Please PRAY about this wonderful opportunity and REACH into your wallet AND resources to help Brother Lance Kramer's  vision possible, to touch thousands of lives for Jesus Christ and eternity. Share this with your Church and various groups and see what they would like to do in response to these needs.
